Circa 1970ish BB King introduces us to the blues regarding that woman “who is evil when I’m with you baby, and is jealous when we are apart.”
The clear clean snap of Lucille, with emotion flowing not only from the guitar but the voice, the face and the body language. The guitar complimenting the singing but never at the same time. No one will ever do the blues better than BB King.
I first saw BB King at a rock festival around the same time doing pretty much this same thing as you see here, though it was another song that lingers deep within me even today. That iceman, that postman and that sorryass insurance man in such a very short a story with so much bang.
A beautiful young lady stranger happened to be next to me during the song and she too fell under the emotional spell resulting in a relationship that lasted a good long time.
I could not find a good video performance of that song “I Got Some Help I Really Don’t Need” or more commonly called “Outside Help” so this one with a very good photo history of BB KING works as a good eulogy.
