“You know there is so much wrong with the United States these days, take pride in the one thing that is legitimately better, we don’t let fundamentalists rule our poop,” Bill Maher explaining that our own Christian fundamentalists as intolerant as they are, don’t hold a candle to the intolerance of Islam.
How many fundamentalist Orthodox Jews are there? 2 million.
How many fundamentalist Christians are there? 200 million.
How many fundamentalist Muslims are there? 1.5 billion.
And what with the state sponsored beheadings, stonings and terrorism another billion will be joining up by 2050 it is predicted, making it the largest religion in the world. Whopeee…
The show tonight replayed the same old fight of Bill Maher vs the religiously correct liberals, but this time with Fareed Zakaria rather than Resa Aslan or Ben Affleck. Bill Maher vs Fareed Zakaria.
Of course I understand what is behind the religious correctness of liberals like Obama, Affleck, Zakaria and Aslan. The pile on Muslims from talk radio, Fox News and the Republicans Party is generating only more and more bigotry and hate against Muslims here at home and the destruction of diplomacy with Muslims abroad.
Okay I get that, but be that as it may, Islam is the most ubiquitous, intolerant, homophobic, sexist, bigoted and violent religion in the world. And someone needs to tell the truth no matter the results.
Zakaria also makes a point that shamming people for their religion only backs them up against a wall to fight back harder. I am not so sure, for shamming does work for those believers who believe only because they never bothered to actually think it out for themselves. So Zakaria, what are we to do? Hmm, as Republicans would say, Neville Chamberlain it?
Muslims in the Middle East, North Africa and Central Asia are presently killing one another by the tens of thousands, with millions of refugees moving hither and yon. Let them work it out just as Europe did 500 years ago. Hey it only took a couple hundred years of fighting over not which God is Great but which interpretation of God is more great than the other. Lives well spent I say!
And most importantly, why would we want to get into that mess? We got fracking now! All is well.
