Robert and Catarine Pierce feel they are facing discrimination by their landlord, who has sent them a letter threatening eviction if they don’t cover up while hoeing their cabbage.
According to police, they are not breaking any law as long as they both wear g-strings and also pasties for Catherine. It sounds like the end of the story, but the entire mess may end in Municipal Court regardless of the law if the Boulder Housing Partners can define them as a nuisance. A spokesperson admits that it’s not a legal issue but a community concern, and that a nuisance is not easily defined. Insisting that they don’t want anything illegal or special Robert
Pierce, 58 stated, “We want our freedom, exactly what the law gives you, and we don’t want to be harassed about it.”
While no other neighbors have been quoted, neighbor Emily Hink has been quite outspoken saying she “spied Catharine Pierce, 51, gardening as she was driving home with her daughter, whose “jaw dropped.” Hink further expressed concern that there were parks and schools nearby filled with kids. I assume that means one of the other young ones might catch a glimpse of the Pierces who are wearing as much as is seen in many ads and beaches – if they too, happen to spy them.
t’s just my wacky opinion, but the Pierces are not exhibionists, and are acting within the law. I’m certain that people living in gang-ridden cities would be happy to exchange the chance of glimpsing naturists exposing the legal amount of skin, for the threat of gunfire. Emily Hink. and the other reactionary
conservatives hiding behind “the children” could gain some much-needed perspective.
