Comedian Jimmy Fallon’s first week as ‘The Tonight Show’ host is a riotous success! To help celebrate, Jimmy brought back a favorite guest – newscaster and Hip-Hop artist Brian Williams. William’s solemn demeanor and conservative wardrobe do not remind anyone of the ‘hood, and he carries his role of old school rapper off with great comic effect.
‘Bri-Wi ‘ often helps “Jam the News” with Jimmy and The Roots. However in this variation, clips of Williams at his news desk are cleverly edited to make it appear (and sound) as if he’s rapping along with a popular, classic rap song. In this instance, Williams performs the ever-popular “Rappers Delight” by the Sugar Hill Gang. Brian didn’t perform this song by himself. Williams threw to his main man Lester Holt who helped carry the song which is sure to make ‘The Sugar Hill Gang” proud….And possibly looking to take the act on the road again with the addition of Williams and Holt!
In case you missed them, Brian Williams has done rap mash-ups before. Here are but a few: Dr. Dre & Snoop’s “Nuthin’ but a ‘G’ Thang,” the ever-popular Young MC’s ‘Bust A Move,’ Nate Dogg and Warren G’s “Regulate,” N.W.A.’s “Straight Outta Compton” and Marky Mark and the Funky Bunch ‘Good Vibrations” If Bri Wi ever gives up the news biz, there’s room on the Hip Hop stage for him.
