Former CBS News anchor Dan Rather tests his language skills with a confounding slew of shiny new internet slang words. Get off of my lawn with your crazy, invented words you illiterate kids! That was me, not Rather, who is pretty cool. Rather was presented with the words and given an opportunity to define them before the true meaning was revealed.
The newsman was ‘on fleek’ with ‘dadbod’ and ‘granddadbod’ which were already in his vocabulary. Rather not only used ‘dadbod’ correctly in a sentence, but simultaneously made a prediction for the Patriot’s Tom Brady, who may fit the definition if he literally sits out six games.
Rather defined ‘lit’ ‘bae’ and the acronym ‘MRW’ in his own way, and showed that he’s not without mad skills when it comes to the invention of new words. Given the slang word ‘thirsty’ Rather offered an excellent alternative; “When you can’t remember whether it’s on Tuesday or Thursday and you just want to finesse it and you say ‘Thirsty.'”
The kids are alright – and so is Dan Rather.
