Oh Horrors! We’re still fighting The War on Drugs, now studies are telling us that our attachment to the internet and other gadgets is as powerful as drug addiction. In fact, 79% of those responding to an AmEx survey said that they checked email while on vacation. The other 21% lied.
Hotels now offer "digital detox" programs to help vacationers break the habit while they’re on vacation. They can go alone or with a spouse, snapping at one another while going through the pain of withdrawal. Hard core hotels even strip rooms of TV’s and phones, leaving board games and books in their place. This would be a good time to start drinking and/or doing drugs. It is too soon to know what the recidivism – or divorce rate is for the programs yet. My advice, just say no.
