As a life long duck hunter who is also a gun owner a reminder of a few things.
Duck hunters are only allowed THREE (3) shells in their gun. THREE. It has been that way for at least 60 years. No complaints from duck hunters. It seems fair. Even without the 3 shell law, most pump and semi automatic shotguns only hold 5 or 6 shells to begin with. And many duck hunters, myself included, use double barrel shotguns limiting themselves to only two shots. This usually means they are better shots not needing that last one.
Also shotgun shells that contain buckshot or slugs are against the law for any kind of bird hunting. Most bird hunting shotgun shells contain what is called six (6) shot. Which is six times smaller than a BB. BBs in shotgun shells are legal for bird hunting and used almost exclusively for goose hunting. The maximum range to bring down a duck or a goose with shells that are BB or smaller is 60 yards, though 40 yards is the effective range. The shot does not exceed 100 yards in range. Look at all those GUN CONTROLS that no one even questions.
Best duck recipe: Soak duck breasts in Teriyaki sauce over night or for a few hours. Fold a duck breast around some part of an onion or jalapeno. Wrap with a strip of bacon and put a toothpick through it. Crank up a Weber full bore and cover. Place all wrapped breasts on the grate on a table. Open Weber, put grate over coals, replace cover. Less a few minutes of heavy fire, DUCK RUMACKI! Tastes like prime rib. Kill a duck for Jesus!
Oh, I gave up duck hunting about 10 years ago. I decided that growing things was time far better spent than killing things.
