"The Teas State Board of Education has a politicized distortion of history offering misrepresentations at every turn. The conservative majority is using the curriculum to promote its political priorities, molding the telling of the past to justify its current views and aims. Biblical influences on America’s founding are exaggerated, if not invented. The complicated but undeniable history of separation between church and state is flatly dismissed. The resulting fusion is a confusing, unteachable hodgepodge, blending the worst of two educational dogmas" Thomas B. Fordham Institute gives Texas Education a D.
So says the conservative Thomas B. Fordham Institute giving the Texas social studies curriculum standards a "D". They go on to say the State Board of education has distorted the issues of slavery, civil rights, Hispanic history and added the term "free enterprise" 86 times to make the propaganda laughable.
State Board of Education chairman and Evangelical Christian Gail Lowe defends her gang of Talibanies by not only denying everything the Fordham study said, but that the Fordham Institute who is funded by the Hoover Institute, the Walton Family Foundation etc is not conservative.
This is the problem with religion whether it be in Afghanistan, the Middle East, Ireland or America. Once it gets its hooks into government – intolerance, bigotry and ignorance move beyond personal and private sillycrap to become the law of the land.
