Which reminds me! Where has the 28th Amendment been lately? Every year during Republican control of the House of Representatives comes THE FLAG AMENDMENT! In keeping with Republican ideology of freedom, liberty and individual rights, they sent up a constitutional Amendment to make Flag Burning (or desecration) a crime one goes to jail for. The Senate, no matter who is in control has thus far always put a stop to that crap.
The powers that be often point to Texas as the state to emulate these days. We have jobs down here! We also have a state legislature that has 102 Republicans and 50 Democrats. No statewide Democrat in power since 1996. And so what Texas is second last in education, hungry children, health insurance and the like? After all, Mississippi is worse! We go to bed with that and a loaded gun every night.
