I was listening to Diane Rehms the other day who had on a couple very credible and moderate authors, Thomas Mann and Norman Ornstein, who have a new book called, “It’s Even Worse Than It Looks: How The American Constitutional System Collided with the New Politics of Extremism”.
One of their central points concerning how the GOP was taking over by reactionary extremists can be laid at the feet of the mainstream media. An issue I have been pounding my head against the desk her for decades. The media is in such fear of losing share (money) by seeming to be biased by faith based hillbillies, that they pretend everything is equal. Social Security is equal to feeding it to the Wall Street. No heath care plan is the same as a health care plan. Obamacare is equal to Nocare. Hating homos is equal to gay rights. Denying women birth control is no different than helping women with birth control. The Catholic Church telling a billion followers NOT TO USE BIRTH CONTROL is equal to helping women along with birth control. As I once said a decade ago on this issue…
If the Right-wing was advocating cannibalism and the rest against it, the media would be for only eating each people over 18.
The thing is neither Thomas Mann, Norman Ornstein or me will make any difference. Excuse while I pound my head on the desk for a minute or two…,
