So Fox News Bill O’Reilly has a new book out this week, Killing Jesus. This after so much success with his previous blockbusters Killing Lincoln and Killing Kennedy. I wonder what’s next on the agenda to reconstruct history for the Right? Killing Issac? Or even better, how about Killing O’Reilly.
What is so very interesting in this book is that it is wholly a propaganda piece to show Jesus Christ as the leader of the Republican Tea Party Ugly who above all hate taxes and the big government who does the tax collecting. How brazen his dishonesty. As with most all Right-wing propaganda O’Reilly begins with a false premise to arrive at his false conclusion. Here is Bill O’Reilly…
“It is an absolute fact. He interrupted the tax money flow to the Jewish temple authorities, and to Rome. Once he did that, his fate was sealed. How angry he got in the temple when he saw the tax collectors dragging the money out of the poor people, and he overturned their tables, which was a move that sealed his fate.”
Now here is the same story from TWO different sources from ANY Bible…
“And making a whip of cords, he drove them all out of the temple, with the sheep and oxen. And he poured out the coins of the money-changers and overturned their tables. And he told those who sold the pigeons, “Take these things away; do not make my Father’s house a house of trade.” John 2:13–16
“And Jesus went into the temple of God, and cast out all them that sold and bought in the temple, and overthrew the tables of the moneychangers, and the seats of them that sold doves, And said unto them, It is written, My house shall be called the house of prayer; but ye have made it a den of thieves.” Matthew 21:12–13
You see? He turns it on it’s head. Not only does this have nothing at all to do with government large or small, or taxes, or tax collectors but it is the OPPOSITE of it. It is really all about how angry GOD is at bankers, buyers and sellers who use religion for profit. It is a whip in the ass to not only religious greed and avarice but capitalism as well. Turned on its head by Bill O’Reilly to the joy of his Fox News flock.
