Brady Olson is being hailed as a hero after he stopped a would be school shooter in his tracks by tackling him before he had a chance to begin a killing spree.
I was just harping about how people mistakenly wring their hands after a school massacre, and proclaim ‘if only there had been a good guy with a gun.’ Presumably the gun toting hero would have stopped the whole mess with his trusty peacemaker, if – he didn’t shoot his own eye out first. A video of a study we posted yesterday, proved for once and for all that the eye shooting would probably be the best case scenario if a civilian entered the fray with guns a’blazing.
That is why it’s so refreshing to see how the Lacey, Washington teacher at at North Thurston High School took the 16-year-old gunman down and held him on the ground – giving others a chance to bravely pile on as well, and wait for the police.
No one was injured, and little is known about the shooter, who announced his intentions with two shots which drew the attention of the popular teacher.
The shooting comes just months after another one in Washington state left five students dead, including the gunman. In October, 15-year-old Jaylen Fryberg shot the students and then himself after inviting them to lunch in the cafeteria at Marysville-Pilchuck High School north of Seattle.
