I have always enjoyed telling Pro Lifers that I agree with them in promoting a big intrusive government making our decisions for us. They love hearing that.
The freedom argument used by the religious intolerance side of things is bogus. You can find this in most matters including evolution, abortion, birth control etc… They make the false claim it is their freedom at stake, but there is an enormous difference between a freedom to believe and a freedom to do in most all their arguments.
In this case it is the actual freedom of women to have and act upon affordable easy access to birth control as opposed to the freedom of the narrow religious beliefs of their employer. You can believe whatever you want, you just can’t be forcing those beliefs on the rest of us. Creationism is fine, bring your own kids up to be nitwits, but not anyone else’s kids, prayer is a tedious waste of time that is all fine and well other than when it is forced upon us by the government. It’s the freedom of real action opposed to the freedom of pretend belief. THEY ARE NOT THE SAME. And the Supreme Court should know better. Especially when the belief from the 5 Catholics is the most wrongheaded issue in the survival of the world. After all, it is overpopulation that is the cause of Global Warming.
