If you can get through this without tearing up, then you must be a Republican…
Texas Governor Rich Perry is running for president again. This time drug free and smarter. In a recent interview when it was bought up that being Governor for 14 years Texas is on or near the bottom when it comes to states with the highest disparity of wealth, the most poverty, the least health care for the poor, the least services for children, the worst in education, pre school, graduation rates and on and on. The only thing Texas is number one is oil money, guns and executions. His response was not unexpected.
“Biblically, the poor are always going to be with us in some form or fashion.” Rick Perry December 2014
So like most Republicans, Rich Perry could care less about the poor because Jesus says so. It’s in the Bible. For the complete article Texas poor
This is reminiscent not only of Charles Murray and The Bell Curve some years back, but the general attitude of Republican ideology. That there will always be poor people so there is no sense in trying to fix the problem. Helping is not only a waste of time and money but Biblically wrong. You know like American Jesus said… “You will be judged on how well you treat the wealthy among you.”
I was just Googling HAPPY NATIONS to find that overall, the nations which are the least religious and we define as European Socialism are at the top of the list, and those that are the most religious are at the bottom. Looking at it another way, those nations who have the most helpful social safety net have far less need for religion to compensate for the poverty, violence, war and Illiteracy so many other nations suffer.
