The other day the Houston Chronicle ran an editorial decrying Texas’ use of capital punishment. The finding was that the United States was the fifth top executioner in the world with the State of Texas rating as the seventh greatest in the world! If it were not for Mississippi and Iran, Texas would look really bad let me tell you what!
In response to this all letters to the editor in today’s Houston Chronicle were angry as Hell that anyone could even question our Texas Golgotha we call Walls Unit in Huntsville, Texas.
The letters were loud and clear! We need more of it! It is biblical! It is Christian! The self proclaimed most Christian nation on Earth – whose savior was wrongly executed – should bind and drag as many people as it can get its hands on to be strapped (or nailed) down to be taken home by THE BIG GOVERNMENT. Gosh Republicans, name one good thing about any of them! Just one nice thing!
Of the handful of letters I picked this one to represent the culture and politics of Texas.
I was dismayed upon reading the Chronicle’s editorial listing Texas as No. 7 on the world death penalty list.
I firmly believe that with our can-do attitude and the indomitable spirit inherent in all Texans, we can and should get to number one in the rankings. With that kind of a powerful crime deterrent on our side, I may once again be able to leave my doors unlocked.
RAJ PAUL – Houston
There you go. With China in the lead with 10,000 popped in the back of the head by the big government each year, Mr. Paul here would like to see Texas have the big government do in at least 10,001 each year. I would guess whether they deserve it or not to get the numbers to gain respect in the world – as the #1 most disgusting example of BIG GOVERNMENT OVERREACH in the entire world.
You know, it’s not so much the issue itself as it is the double hit of the hypocrisy of decrying Big Government while the wet their pants in the most heinous example of big government, and the joyous glee Christians, Conservatives and Republicans take in sending so many home to God.
