The quickest way to alienate your smart friends is to mention your sincere religious beliefs. This is the opinion of ‘Above Average,’ the creator of this video series. It strikes me that this is an excellent time for a Disclaimer: The views in this video do not necessarily represent the views of this site…Well, not all of them. Obviously not all non-religious people are ‘smart’ as depicted…But some people who believe themselves to be smart are obnoxious. On the other hand, not all religious people are tireless, obnoxious proselytizers. For those who do fit the latter description, this video’s for you.
In a world where the openly religious encounter the hostile, the ‘spiritual’ and those who want to bring you over to their own nirvana. None they encounter are as dangerous and sneaky as one group mentioned within…televangelists and politicians. Both politicians and televangelists pretend to be one of you, and it pays off like you wish a Vegas slot machine would – in both votes and money! Don’t believe everything you hear. They all use the word ‘God’ and look presentable.
With politicians, I’ve noticed a marked increase in alleged ‘born again Christians.’ In such a diverse country, it’s odd that no agnostics, atheists, Muslims, Buddhists, Bahai’s – and rarely even do Jewish candidates throw their hat into the ring!
As many times as the secular (politicians) and the religious (think Crystal Cathedral) have been shown to be frauds, they still must proclaim their allegiance to your God or forget their dreams of living in a White House or a Crystal Cathedral. The latter – when successful comes complete with theme parks and television shows which offer opportunities for the elderly to share their worldly goods with them, and share generic cat chow with Ms Kitty and three suspiciously raccoon-looking ‘kittens.’
