Inset: Dennis Rodman in happier times, when he said ‘Yes to the dress!’
Like many of us, Jimmy Kimmel finds it difficult to understand what Dennis Rodman was trying to convey in the wake of his latest ‘Basketball Diplomacy’ trip to North Korea, where he helped to celebrate ‘Dear Leader’ Kim Jong-un’s birthday.
The players who accompanied Rodman offer no clue, but one seems to be trying to calm him with a hand on the shoulder, and another player fights valiantly to halt an eye-roll in progress. Those guys have great game faces! I could learn from them. An ill-timed eye roll lost a (lousy) job for me one time. It was well-deserved by the recipient, although that’s hardly relevant – the recipient being a manager.
You have to wonder what the players are thinking – and what moved them to accept the invitation to travel to North Korea; but I highly doubt that ‘a penny for their thoughts’ will loosen their tongues. Having Dennis Rodman mad at you is a sobering thought. To have his dictator buddy and the hungry dogs mad, is enough to inspire life-long silence.
In more family feud news, it appears that Kim Jong-un may have also killed the wife of the uncle he recently executed. She is also the sister of his late father. No slave to sentimentality, somehow Kim and Dennis have forged a bond, based upon_______ Finish this sentence?
Jimmy Kimmel anualyzes and diagrams Rodman’s speech on a chalkboard…Accurately.
The disappointing reality is, that knowing exactly what Rodman said, still doesn’t help us make much sense of it, despite how strongly he seems to feel about whatever or whomever it is. Insights anyone?
