On Last Week Tonight, John Oliver directs shame onto the Secret Service, whose attempt to embarrass Jason Chaffetz, only proves that their powers of observation are seriously impaired by those aviator sunglasses. The sophomoric release of Chaffetz’s failed application further demonstrates a lack of ‘intelligence’ on the part of the agency, and in no way reflects upon Chaffetz. As John points out, it was a waste of time because Chaffetz will never fail to embarrass himself, and he will do it in a much more spectacular fashion than anything the Secret Service could possibly dream up.
John reviews the horrible, awful, very bad week Chaffetz just lived through. In the Planned Parenthood “hearing” where Cecile Richards was constantly shouted down and not allowed to speak, Chaffetz planned to strike the killing blow to Planned Parenthood, with a diabolical chart he’d whipped up – chock full of factual stuff, colors, lines and arrows. Damn Cecile Richards and her instant (true) fact-checkers, and the makers of ‘real’ charts everywhere!
John Chaffetz wants to be the next Speaker of the House. You’ll see a clip that proves beyond a shadow of a doubt that he is the most qualified candidate to fill the shoes of John Boehner. Yes, the man is sad about Lincoln’s passing. Perhaps he only recently heard the news, and will soon pass denial and move onward through bargaining, anger and finally acceptance.
By now, you are getting the picture, and once you’ve seen John’s video I think you’ll agree that the Secret Service is not cut out for embarrassing anyone other than themselves.
