“What a privilege it is to be named the ‘Legislator of the Year’ by the Deep East Texas Judges/Commissioners Association. East Texas is where I grew up and lived all my life except for my four years in the Army. It is home and I love the East Texans that comprise a place where sense is ‘common,’ unlike Washington, D.C. where it is ‘uncommon sense.’ There are no better people in the country or world than East Texans and it is such an honor to represent them and stand up for them, no matter the pressures that exist to abandon our Constitution and just ‘go along to get along. I am a blessed man who is humbled and grateful to be voted this honor. It continues to inspire and encourage me to continue to fight for what is best for the country and the wonderful people of East Texas.” The “Deep East Texas Legislator of the Year” award is given to a legislator who has diligently worked on the behalf of all the citizens of the deep east Texas District.
Louie Gohmert’s district includes Tyler, Longview, Lufkin and covers the deep woods of East Texas. In the last three elections Louie got about 70% of the vote. He is the dumbest man in congress.
Anyone traveling from Houston to Chicago or thereabouts knows his district well from top to bottom as the only road out is highway 59, which I must say is more interesting than an interstate with all the stuff in yards for sale. You need yard ornaments? Highway 59 is the place to go.
You see, people in West Texas have the oil fields, people in North Texas have the cattle, People in South East Texas have the refineries, people in East Texas only have trees and Louie Gohmert.
