This is an example of just how absurd the Tea Party media is.
First we have to remember the WHERE of this. Australia, where they have universal health care, so it’s a meeting in a socialist, communist, Marxist country.
Next let’s get an exact quote of the question, which was asked to the entire panel.
“Which so-called dangerous idea do you each think would have the greatest potential to change the world for the better if it were implemented?”
So we have Dan Savage answering the question of what is the most dangerous idea he can come up with.
“Population control. There’s too many goddamn people on the planet. You know, I’m pro-choice, I believe that women should have a right to control their bodies. Sometimes in my darker moments, I’m anti-choice. I think abortion should be mandatory for about 30 years.
So I fail to see the issue? What if someone had said instead:
“There’s not enough people on the planet. You know, I’m pro-life. I believe the government should have the right to control women’s bodies. Sometimes in my most lucid moments I believe that forcing women to have children they do not want should be mandatory for EVER.”
Would Michele Malkin call that person a “monstrous douchenozzle?”
You know this issue is little different than most any Republican issue. You can ask the most obvious questions: “What about the woman?” Or “What if you were a woman having to make that decision?” Or “What about coat hangers and suicides?” Or “I thought you were against big government intrusion?”
It’s no different than how they deal with questions like “What if you were poor?” Or “What if you had no health insurance?” Or “What if you were homeless” Or “What if you were Black?”
These KIND of people are not able to think in those terms. Besides that lack of understanding other points of view, they also just flat out refuse to think anything out that are more complicated than a rock.
