If you watched CNN’s Town Hall on guns with President Obama last night – along with the CNN wrap up – you know the big issue from Republicans was that the President has harmed America with his very divisive, spurious and dishonest argument that there is a “conspiracy theory” in which he is in chaots with the Federal government to take everyone’s gun away.
CNN host Anderson Cooper got into that directly with the President calling him on using the words “conspiracy theory” to define those people who believe the president and the Federal government have a secret plan to “do treacherous harm and evil” by taking everyone’s gun away. It was the only time I noticed Obama getting peeved at the meeting.
Right out of the box in the CNN wrap up Hugh Hewitt and S. E. Cupp went ballistic on how ugly and divisive the President was by claiming that those who believe the President and the Federal Government are secretly conspiring to take everyone’s gun away are conspiracy theorists. Well if that isn’t a silly conspiracy theory what is? So other than the role reversal of political correctness on this one, what is going on?
I have always contended that this American love of guns (violence) is much like a religion, rhyme and reason do not enter into it as the Republican argument is that if enough people believe something to be true then in fact it must be true. Which BTW is the only difference tween a religion and a cult, the numbers.
