2000: Former Houston Police Dept officer Adrian Haywood was sentenced to 20 years in prison for coercing a woman to perform oral sex on him during a traffic stop. He threatened her with jail time and his gun. During trial, another woman told the judge the officer did the same thing to her. Haywood remains in state prison on an aggravated assault charge
2003: A Houston police officer was suspended without pay after he allegedly allowed a supermarket shoplifting suspect in the Heights to go free after she performed oral sex on him and they engaged in sexual intercourse. Three counts of improper sexual activity with a person in custody were dismissed; he was convicted on one count of tampering with a government record.
May 2007: A former Harris County deputy constable traded his Texas peace officer’s license for the dismissal of sexual assault charges against him after a mistrial. A woman accused the officer of forcing her to perform oral sex rather than go to jail after he found marijuana and cocaine in her home.
June 2007: A former Brazoria County juvenile probation officer, Ellehue Johnson, 32, was indicted on charges that he changed the monthly report for a 16-year-old female probationer in exchange for oral sex. The charges include aggravated sexual assault and indecency with a child.
August 2007: A woman is now suing Houston police officer William T. Archer II who pulled her over in July 2006 demanding oral sex or he would send her to jail. Sex incident involving HPD officer prompts lawsuit
My interest in this story is not only that it was reported at all down here in Dumbutt, but the differences between the online and offline responses. As expected a fair share of the hundred or so comments to this article blames the woman – one of the many reasons we call it Dumbutt – but there were no comments decrying the story itself being run.
On the other hand, the print complaints are not directed at either the cop or the woman but at the Houston Chronicle because so many are as mad as a Hannity at a Dialy Kos Convention because the “family” newspaper used the words “oral sex”. The story, the law, and the abuse have no meaning to my fellow Dumbuttians because they see Sex and Satan as synonyms. Blame Paul of Tarsus.
