Americans of all religious stripe, and many who claim none, were moved by Pope Francis on his recent trip the the USA; but it only took bigot from Kentucky – Kim Davis, to perform a miracle. With her shameless lies, Davis and her lawyer caused many people to doubt the Pope’s sincerity and believe the very worst about Pope Francis!
The Vatican has now fully addressed the allegations, pointing out that the Pope didn’t enter into the details of Mrs. Davis’ situation, and his meeting (one in which he met with scores of people briefly) should not be considered a form of support of her position.” The Vatican reply and more are covered in the above video by Chris Hayes.
It is interesting to note that the only actual private and lengthy audience granted by Pope Francis had been planned via email for weeks. The Pope affectionately greeted one of his former students and friends, by kissing him on both cheeks. The openly gay man brought his partner, with whom he has shared his life for nineteen years.
We all should have noticed, that only after the Pontiff was safety away, did Davis’ lawyer announce the fantastic story of her ‘private clandestine’ meeting with Pope Francis. In Kim’s book, Jesus says lies are okay, because the ends justify the means. It must be true, because Kim Davis is one of the meanest ends we’ve yet to see.
