The program which started in 1989 with a whisper is now a viral sensation. Joanna Rohrback shared the quiet beginnings of her creation, ‘Prancercise’ with The Daily Beast, where she goes into greater detail about the spiritual and nutritional aspects of her program, and the physical problems with threatened to sideline her, more thoroughly in her book. Says Rohrback of the renewed interest in her video and sales of her book:
“This book finally let me experience my inner horse. I was like a child again.” Prancercise® is defined as “A springy, rhythmic way of moving forward, similar to a horse’s gait and is ideally induced by elation.” I have yet to see the horse whose gait is similar to Ms Rohrbach’s but I fear I’m digressing into nitpicking.
Sadly, no horse is necessary or used in the program
Rohrbach realized that it was fun to prance like a horse while on a walk near her home in California. I daresay there are other states where such behavior might be unfairly looked upon with skepticism. This is a low-impact, low cost workout, although those who live in ‘those’ other states may want to keep the ‘creativity’ to a socially acceptable level, I’m sorry to say. Your chances of being reported to the authorities are much less likely if you are A. Like Joanna, Prancing in an isolated park followed by a camera crew. B. Leading a horse…And music, needless to say – is a must. All of you inventors and creative spirits out there…Can we agree now that your idea most definitely is not too silly? If you feel strongly, go for it!
