Jimmy Fallon has studied the tradition of making a New Years resolution by scientifically weighing the pros and the cons. You may well benefit from his efforts! Before the clock chimes midnight on New Years Eve, and Auld Lang Syne is sung, many of us have made a list – to which we hastily add learning the lyrics to that song before next year.
In the cold light of day on January first, you re-read your list, which you made in the hopeful mindset of the night before. If you’re like most of us, upon reviewing the list, it seems that in the new year you are not going to enjoy life at all!
My advice is if you’ve been a little harsh with yourself, set more realistic goals. It’s possible that you may need to take some of the things you’re giving up ‘cold turkey’ and place them into a new ‘to do in moderation’ list. There! Wasn’t that easy? Now you can ignore them in a list that induces much less guilt.
Jimmy even has a Pro and Con for President Obama, who really could use a little more recreation, but Jimmy doesn’t want him to forget that he may have a veto or two, and an executive action to make until 2016!
Jimmy’s tips also help you set realistic goals. When you resolve to get into ‘shape’ it’s helpful to envision the most likely shape one can attain.
I don’t want to be a spoiler, but I will just say this about vintage Hammer pants. If they say size 34 on the stretched out waistband, claim it, brother!
