Cuba is hot, a few days after the most powerful man in the world and his family visited Cuba, the most powerful rock band in the world did the same for an estimated 200,000 fans packed into Habana (Havana) field. I just saw the Rolling Stones last June in a 15,000 venue and took notice of a few differences.
I often had trouble seeing the stage for all the cell phones held on high, in Cuba I noticed one.
The sports stadium is named after the city it resides in rather than what a US city sold to the highest bidder.
The general admission venue with no seating on the floor made for lots of dancing rather than here where if you leave your seat to dance you are forcibly grabbed, roughed up, removed and often sent to jail. You know that freedom thing.
There were black people! I have been to 10 Stones concerts and don’t recall ever seeing a black person other than on stage. Which has always seemed strange to me as it was the Rolling Stones, who after Elvis sold out, took black R&B to white audiences.
And of course this, and so many more videos from Cuba in the last week, seeing young people in Cuba little different than those in Miami. Except for the cell phones.
My Son’s cell phone failed at about 3:12pm yesterday. He rushed over here and by 3:31pm had taken my cell phone and switched chips. My wife immediately had a meltdown and called Verison, Fed Ex and the National Guard for a new one. I stopped her. I told him he could keep the damn thing and am better off for it.
Hey, it’s none of your business WHERE I AM. All it turned out to be for me was an ankle collar.
Are you insane? What if…
Yeah well, I will just have to deal with that in the same manner we all did prior to ten years ago or so. And we all seemed to manage oka. Now if you will excuse me I have to saddle up the horse.
