“I’m going to just go ahead and say it, the blacks are the ones causing the problems and this ‘racial tension,’ I guess that’s what happens when you flunk out of school and have no education, I’m sure their parents are just as guilty for not knowing what their kids were doing; or knew it and didn’t care. I’m almost to the point of wanting them all segregated on one side of town so they can hurt each other and leave the innocent people alone. Maybe the 50s and 60s were really on to something,” the post reads via the Avalanche-Journal. “Now, let the bashing of my true and honest opinion begin….GO!” The post reportedly ended with hashtags including “I’m not a racist” and “I’m sick of them causing trouble.” Texas Elementary school teacher on her Facebook page.
This article with the picture of racist segregationist teacher Karen Fitzgibbons is meant to show the real face of the racism in the South. It is not just angry white men wearing sheets in the woods, it is far more often middleclass white women like Karen here and Paula Deen.
About 90% of white Texas, from how they vote anyway, are Karen Fitzgibbons. But I must say that with 35 years of experience talking to people like her, most all of them look over their shoulder before they say these things, let alone post their crap on Facebook. I wrote a story about not looking over your shoulder first long ago, Racism what’s it get you?
How many times have I heard, “I am not a racist but… ” Hundreds of times at least. So here we have a typical Texas woman calling for Jim Crow segregation. “I am not a racist but I want the races to be segregated.” Do they not see the connection?
Snakes talk, humans had dinosaurs as pets, men live in fish, wrestling is real, guns are safe, trickle down economics works, global warming is a lie and I am not a racist.
But in defense of my friends and neighbors here in Texas over the 35 years these are just things they don’t ever actually think about. Thinking is hard. Rather they are busy working hard. fishing, hunting, going to the roadhouse to have themselves a beer and like Homer Simpson, they vote to elect people to think for them.
And I would not be too concerned about with what happens to Karen Fitzgibbons, she probably already has a job offer from Idaho or some Christian school.
