In a week when a boy famously face-planted in the Oval Office, President Obama added yet another zany kid moment to his collection of memorable encounters with the short set.
The President and First Lady made a surprise visit at a Washington D.C.charter school, to help students and faculty fill backpacks with toys and books for the homeless on the 9/11 Day of Service. The President was paired with Madison, a frank sixth grade student with a gift of gab. Madison frankly told the President that when she heard a ‘special guest’ was coming, she was really hoping it would be Beyonce. The information came as no surprise to the parents of two teen-age girls.
The President laughed the remark off with self-deprecating humor, saying “I understand, Malia and Sasha would feel the same way.” Michelle added, “It’s a disappointment.” Let it be know, Madison is blunt but kind, hastening to add that he was “even better” than Queen Bey, but the President and First Lady knew the truth. “I’d rather see Beyonce” joked Michelle
.When I was in grade school, a ‘special guest’ usually meant the local accordian school was rounding up suckers in a yearly mandatory assembly. The times they are ‘a changin’.
