If you’re not familiar with the fictional language of the Klingon, you’re probably not a Trekkie. The language of the bad guys of the galaxy has taken on a life of it’s own, with many devotees claiming Klingon as a second language. There is a Klingon dictionary, fonts, and even a Bible. Linguist Dr. Marc Okrand is a very accomplished man, but his most lasting achievement has been the creation of the gutteral lingo. The good doctor co-authored the libretto of the opera in Klingon which is debuting at The Hague this month, and is certainly a high achievement for the war-like Klingons and their devoted translators alike.
