“It’s every bit as true now as it was then, we need 100 more like Jesse Helms in the U.S. Senate.”Ted Cruz at a Heritage Foundation fundraiser
Ted Cruz – the most charismatic of the Senate’s recent three stooges which includes Mike Lee and Rand Paul – came out with guns a blazing to celebrate Jesse Helms.
Jesse Helms had the honor of being the last of the Senate segregationists and the top homophobic bigot in the Senate. It was Jesse Helms who led the Senate filibuster against the bill making the birthday of Martin Luther King Jr. a national holiday. Helms was an ugly a human being who is best remembered for his celebration of religious intolerance, homophobia, bigotry and racism. He became good and dead in 2008.
Of course it is no wonder that Ted Cruz would like to see the entire Senate filled with Jesse Helms. That is if you are so young your don’t remember Joe McCarthy or are fooled by this new hybrid of Evangelical Christian Fundamentalism coupled to Ayn Rand Libertarian politics.
For those who are fooled by these right-wing nutcakes please watch this video which will straighten it out on what Ted Cruz is all about. The fruit falls not far from the tree.See father Rapael Cruz channel Jesse Helms.
Here are a just a few of the wonderful things Jesse Helms is most remembered for
“I’m so old-fashioned I believe in horsewhipping.”
“No, I do not. And neither do the people in the armed forces. Mr. Clinton better watch out if he comes down here. He’d better have a bodyguard.”
“Your tax dollars are being used to pay for grade-school classes that teach our children that CANNIBALISM, WIFE-SWAPPING and MURDER of infants and the elderly are acceptable behavior.”
“The New York Times and Washington Post are both infested with homosexuals themselves. Just about every person down there is a homosexual or lesbian.”
“There is not one single case of AIDS in this country that cannot be traced in origin to sodomy.”
“I’m going to make her cry. I’m going to sing Dixie until she cries.” Singing “Dixie” in an elevator to Black Senator Carol Moseley-Braun
“All Latins are volatile people. Hence, I was not surprised at the volatile reaction.”
That last one really tells the story of Ted Cruz.
