There are three things going on in this video, the talent gap, children being used to promote hate and bigotry and that violence is bad for everyone.
I will get to the talent in a moment, but first I want to address violence.
Going to college on the GI Bill back in the Vietnam era, I spoke often against that war. As time went on I found my biggest concern to be capital punishment and more lately the gun culture. I did not make the connection until fairly recently, but I have come to understand that all of those things are a celebration of violence.
There is a lot of human misery caused by disease, poverty and accidents where it is hard to place any blame. While on the other hand the misery caused by acts of violence we can always find someone to blame. That blame turns to anger, then to hate, to vengeance and more violence.
Islam aside, the dominate Christianity here in America we no longer find any mention of casting the first stone, turning the other cheek, doing unto others, mercy, compassion, peace, forgive them Father…
Sadly, religion is indeed based on the trinity, a way for a few to make money, to express divisive right-wing politics and to get one’s own pearly white ass to Heaven.
As to the talent issue, I really don’t know much about Sparkle but take a look at this from South Korea.
How beautiful, no hateful politics, no flag waving jingoism, no cult of personality. Just a a six your old boy and girl singing a universally kind song so beautifully it makes people cry. So UNAMERICAN.
