Jimmy Kimmel stirs up the natural rivalry between the two biggest cities in the country, New York and Los Angeles. Both cities have enviable cultural and educational resources, so Jimmy thought it would be fun to send a camera crew to LA and to New York, and ask locals a revealing question. Typical, random residents of both cities were asked “Who is smarter, people in New York or LA?” Of course Jimmy can’t lose in this one, as he was born in New York but now lives in Los Angeles, which could place him among the smartest people on the planet.
One can naturally assume how people answered the question. However, they were additionally asked related questions, such as the meaning of ‘I.Q.’ and SAT – both of which yielded surprising answers. The best was yet to come. Do you remember the euphemistically labeled ‘story problems’ in math? I wouldn’t be surprised if you’ve blocked them out of your memory. Verbal math questions still have the power to paralyze. These questions have always been the stuff of nightmares, bringing to mind seemingly endless problems relating to trains, average speed and arrival time etc.. However, the questions posed to our representatives of the big cities were considerably more gentle. In fact, you could say the answers were handed to them.
See how well you fare. You will be smarter than New Yorkers and Angelinos combined if you get any problems correct which do not have the word Kardashian in them.
