When you think of librarians, is this the image that flashes through your mind? This is one of Austin’s finest librarians posing for the Texas Librarian Association fund raising calendar, which is a hit to no one’s surprise. The calendar is raising money for disaster relief for damaged libraries.
The "Tattooed Ladies of TLA" is an 18-month calendar features not a few tattoos, bared skin, and works like a charm to raise awareness for library problems, which might have gone unnoticed. The girls decided to show their wild side, and tattoo artistry after the rousing sales of last year’s efforts by the library guys, the "Men of Texas Libraries" calendar. Baring a little sex appeal by the guys raised $9,000 which went to help libraries which had been damaged by hurricanes Katrina
and Rita. Unlike many library systems, the TLA thrives on promoting diversity and free expression. I believe they were successful at bringing those values across. You can purchase a copy on their website at www.TLA.com
