Just when you thought no one could top Rowan Country Kentucky Clerk Kim Davis in the crazy evangelical Christian celebrating Having chosen “atheism” and “religion” as two of my Google News topics I read far too much from such websites as WND, THE BLAZE, PATHEOS and too many “CHRISTIAN” websites to name. But on Patheos I did finally find the bottom line as to why we cling to religion:
“While atheism does not cause a belief in utopianism, without utopianism atheism is quite depressing, in particular if you’re poor or otherwise miserable: Not only does your life suck now, it will never get better. There is no God to pray to for consolence, and there are no pearly gates in the sky that you’ll get to walk through once you’ve drawn your last breath.”
There you have it, is not as Jesse Ventura said which forced him out of office in Minnesota, “religion is for the weak and stupid” or what I have said, “religion is for the weak OR stupid” but that religion is for miserable people hoping to find a better live in the grave. In the third world the miserable are the poor and uneducated while here in the first world the miserable are losers like Kim Davis, Karen Miller and all those who have their primary allegiance to invisible sky creatures.
I also found this gem on one of the websites that tunes well into evangelical language.
“The truth comes from reason, and we need not ask where reason reigns, it lies with our Christian faith not atheism.”
You see, faith is not just the rejection of reason, it is the opposite of it.
