Russians young and old were granted a rare opportunity to ask questions and receive unexpectedly candid replies during Vladimir Putin’s annual call-in show, and as John Oliver reports – childhood may never be the same for one young girl!
Vladimir Putin is nothing if not dark…But here’s a thought, maybe he was putting his version of a happy face on this meeting with the people.
Asked which man he would save, given the choice between the President of the Ukraine or the President of Turkey. The answer leaves no room for deception.
When an eleven year old girl called in, Putin had an opportunity to indulge in a bit of relatability, charm – maybe even warmth and make believe. Her question is straight out of childhood. It is redolent of pink ribbons, cotton candy and the belief in unicorns. Scarcely believing her luck at getting through, the girl asked Putin what three magical wishes he would make, if wishes were granted to him. John is way ahead of this one, with “ice cream forever, invisibility and unlimited wishes” of course.
Let’s just say that Vladimir Putin’s answer had nothing to do with ice cream.
