Seth Meyers takes a closer look at Bernie Sander’s poll numbers, and finds that a rare phenomenon called ‘The Betty White Zone’ is partly responsible.
It’s astonishing to see Bernie take off, and all the more when it’s revealed that of 857 media minutes in 2015 shared by Hillary, Trump and Bernie, Bernie only received 10 minutes of media attention. Seth claims five of those were on Pawn Stars when he sold his stamp collection, but I’m not so sure.The surge is largely due to those who are 24 years old and under. They view Bernie as authentic, and accessible, as those who’ve flown coach class with him can attest. According to Seth, Bernie lives in ‘The Betty White Zone’ and who doesn’t love Betty!
According to Seth; ” The Betty White Zone is a place reserved for the elderly who are so cool, they make young people believe it will actually be fun to get older. And Bernie Sanders is currently in the Betty White zone. Barack Obama promised hope; but Bernie Sanders promises hope in a different way. Kids watch him and say ‘I hope I’m that cool when I’m 74 – I’m gonna have one suit and yell about everything!”
