We sometimes lose track of the OTHER SIDE of politics in the Sixties. So consumed we are by the evil of bra burning, women’s rights, civil rights, the sexual revolution and of course the worst of it all, PEACE and LOVE. The OTHER side was best represented in one phrase by Alabama Governor George Wallace:
“Segregation today! Segregation tomorrow! Segregation forever!
Wallace apologized later in life for that crap while today Antonin Scalia fondly recalls not only that states rights mantra of the anti-sixties, but the good old days of the confederacy as well. What a fat ugly bastard hey? He is also the vocal leader of that pack of reactionary right-wing justices. And his moron of a sidekick Clarence Thomas who openly takes money from the Koch Brothers – and gives anyone questioning that the finger for as a black justice he knows he cannot be impeached – and whose entire ideology is based on a seething, dripping, overwhelming hatred of liberals and all things liberal. No person in public office IN AMERICAN HISTORY has been more consumed by raw hatred than Clarence Thomas. No wonder the Supreme Court approval rating has gone down to the 40s from the 80s since Gore V Bush.
