That title may sound far fetched, but by God it’s the sad damn truth. CHIPS, the Children’s Health Insurance Program is out of Federal funds. The plan helped insure 7.5 million children in 2006. Many states are now blocking any new children from entering the plan because the Feds are out of money. The Senate, with what looks to be enough votes to override a veto, has passed a bill to extend the plan when it runs out on September 30th It also increases the funding by $35 billion over the next 5 years (less than 3% of what Boy George’s has spent on his dumbass war) to help insure 4.1 more uninsured poor children. The extra funding is from adding a $1 federal tax on cigarettes.
This GOP ROT is not just about Poor George, but what is called the base (who are also all for the war) of the Republican Party.
