Government Shutdown 2013, only Republicans stand between Americans and Obamacare. Medicare and Social Security would have been lost to Newt Gingrich and Dick Armey, who vowed to eradicate those two wastes of money. Look where they are now – Newt and Dick, not the programs.
I think it’s safe to say that most of us want to keep those two programs,and recent polls show that a majority want Obamacare too! We are a greedy people, desiring health care and a retirement in which we are not hustled from park bench to bus stop until we collapse and are brought to an Emergency Room.
Note: Dick Armey and Newt Gingrich have never given up any of their benefits for ‘the cause,’ it gives me the impression that they believe that we – are less important than white, rich people.
On another plane of existence, Democrat from Minnesota, Al Franken has given up his salary for the duration of the tantrum, to ‘Second Harvest’ a group who provides food to the needy – a group which is growing by leaps and bounds. He has not been joined by throngs of willing co-workers whose salaries, conveniently were assured (by themselves) before the ‘Shutdown for The Other Guy’ began.
