I don’t know about you, but I feel like a loser each holiday season. Friends send greeting cards with photos of themselves, looking prosperous and glowing on ski trips, or impossibly tanned and rested while visiting vacation homes in Hawaii. Often affixed are photocopies of their MENSA membership cards, and the GPA’s of brilliant and beautiful children. ‘I planned to caulk the bathroom again this year’ simply doesn’t compare.

They will be green with envy when they see the arsenal that you and the kids are holding – any weapon that has ever danced with sugar plums in your mind can be yours for that brief moment, and forever on film. Be prepared, you will engender such envy that the uppity card senders will stop sending you their cards and bragging holiday letters to you. Who can blame them, you’ll be a hard act to follow.
