Jimmy Kimmel: I Told My Kids I Ate All Their Halloween Candy 2014

YouTube Challenge - I Told My Kids I Ate All Their Halloween Candy 2014 Jimmy Kimmel
Here’s a tasty palate cleanser to clear the nasty taste of the midterm elections!  For the past three years, Jimmy Kimmel has challenged parents to pretend they ate all of their kids’ Halloween Candy, shoot video of the reaction and upload the video to YouTube. They did it again this year and got more videos than ever before. Kimmel’s crew sifted through more than a thousand and whittled it down to a few favorites.

I’m afraid to ponder too deeply what it says about us as adults, that we enjoy this yearly feature so much. The reactions of children range from blind anger and  rage at the injustice of it all, to the heart melting reactions that prove parents are doing something very right. You’ll know the latter group when you see them.   After slaving for a yearly bonanza of goodies, these children greet the news with admirable calm and forgiveness…And even a hug or two. One adorable little girl merely smiles and says “We’ll get more next year.”  The unthinkable is forgiven.
Another favorite is the little boy who is calm personified, and a potential detective in the making. Informed that his candy was eaten by gluttonous parents while he slumbered, he questions the perp,  “All of it – every single bite?” Assured that indeed it is gone, he concludes, ” you must have a tummy ache.”

It’s cruel, it’s funny, it touches your heart, and I suspect Jimmy will be poring over thousands of videos each and every Halloween for a very long time.
