Fox News works under a much different paradigm than the rest of the media. They have neither a desire or a NEED to hide their hypocrisy, their double standards or any of that pot calling the kettle black crap, mainly because their audience could care less. They want to hear what they want to hear whether its true or what have you. They give their audience what they want, which has proven to be a very good business model, as a generation of right-wing hate radio has shown.
The gist of this video is watching all the Fox News pundits crying out that the Tea Party movement cannot be generalized, or judged, or stereotyped/stereotyped for what a few do or say, or what others think or believe about them! OH SO TRUE!
Except when it comes to LIBERALS, PROGRESSIVES and DEMOCRATS in which the very basis of everything Fox News does is generalizing, judging and stereotyping ALL liberals, progressives and Democrats as Marxist, socialist, communist, God hating baby killers. To the foot stomping applause of their audience.
Here is the NY TIMES ARTICLE mentioned in this video. What we find about the Tea Party is pretty much what we already knew:
They are predominantly white males over 45.
They are about 50% wealthier than average Americans.
They consider themselves "very conservative".
They want to purge the Republican Party of moderate Republicans (RINOS).
They are twice as ready as the general public to blame congress and Obama for the recession rather than the Bush administration.
They consider themselves "angry".
They are most upset over moving to universal Health Care.
They are very very upset over government spending, though they cannot say what they would cut other than graft and waste.
They are most angry that America, Congress and especially Barack Obama are disproportionately concerned with helping poor people rather than the middle class and the wealthy (themselves).
Twice as many Tea Baggers as the general public believe Obama cares more about blacks than whites.
Twice as many as the general public believe Obama is taking the nation in the wrong direction (90%).
Twice as many (90%) also believe Obama is doing a bad job as President.
Twice as many (92%) believe Obama is trying to create a socialist state.
While other Tea Party Issues are less consistent and at odds with themselves:
They do not want Social Security touched.
They do not want Medicare touched.
They are just as likely to return their census forms as anyone else.
They are no different in their negative views of W Bush than the general population.
38% are college grads compared to 24% of the general public.
Only 18% of Americans support the Tea Party movement and only 4% give time or money to the cause. How reflective of that is the MEDIA TIME spend on them. Gosh…
Personally what I find most surprising is how people with 50% higher educational levels can so easily and joyously accept the moronic crap from Sarah Palin, Michele Bachmann, Glenn Beck and above all Victoria Jackson! OMG!
All in all it is mostly about a visceral personal hatred of Barack Obama than any other single factor. Angry White people wanting to TAKE THEIR COUNTRY BACK from "multicultural" mongrels.
Some brave souls in the mainstream media will say that racism is indeed the driving force behind both the anger and the turnout, but they are too few to much matter. For what the Tea Baggers hate most is being called racist. It makes them even angrier than having Pickaninnies in the WHITE House and having to pay taxes to benefit Blacks and Mexicans.
