This just in. The demise of the Tea Party has been highly exaggerated, Gallup this morning found that 24% of Americans support the Tea Party. I have always contended that a third of Americans are Right-wing lunatics, who sadly enough, all vote all the time. They are intense about their politics of racism, ethnic and sexual bigotry, religious intolerance, despising liberals, discarding science and not giving a poop about anything but themselves and their back pocket. These character traits are so strong that they will crawl through swamps, hollers, deserts and fields of corn to get to that straight GOP lever in the voting booth.
The corundum for me is in subtracting the one third from the 24, leaving 9% of Right-wing lunatics not in support of the Tea Party. Seems most every horrible thing in politics is included in the Tea Party so who make up that extra 9%?
Or… Since I arrived at that one third conclusion 20 years ago, have things improved by 9%?
