The video was from a report on July 29, 2008. During the year, an internal investigation found no wrong doing by the SWAT team, much to the amazement of Calvo and supporters. Mayor Calvo announced on June 22, 2009 his intentions to file a lawsuit against the state of Maryland and officials at the county sheriff’s office and police deptartment. The lawsuit seeks unspecified damages, but more important to Calvo is that a court order be enforced causing the country to revise how authorities execute warrants, treat animals, and detain individuals.
During the year the Calvos were contacted by people from across the U.S. who also had been the victims of black masked SWAT team invasions. Often tragedy strikes when they attack a home owner in the middle of the night who rightly believes he is under criminal attack and fires at them after they break into his home without announcing they are police. Perhaps the unfortunate execution of the Mayor’s two pet labs will draw attention to what – in the rest of the country is far too common and likely to involve human life.
