Pat Robertson, Tee Vee preacher and scam artist of note, just hit a new low in his advice to a grieving mother, who is also suffering a crisis of faith after the illness and eventual loss of her three-year-old child.
Pat answers letters from ‘viewers’ of the ‘700 Club.’ I suspect the writers are underpaid interns, but this reply showed a lack of God’s ‘love’ and human decency remarkable even for Pat.
Who – upon losing a child or anyone close, and helplessly watching them suffer, doesn’t rail at the injustice, and doubt the existence of a loving God? It’s a normal part of the grieving process. One will certainly wonder, if God can heal so-and so of her bunions or someone else of demon possession, why didn’t He heal my baby?
Letter writer “Jane” claimed that the grieving mother and co-worker came to her with these concerns. ‘Jane’ wisely told her grieving co-worker that “God sees the whole plan” and asked Pat what she should further say to the sad mommy.
Pat knows best, and explains it all in a nutshell (where else)? Heavenly quality control sometimes slips. Obviously Heaven let the grieving mommy’s baby slip by and get born. God – who ‘sees all’ yet didn’t see this slip-up before the child was born; but He knew that baby would grow up to be Adolf Hitler or Joseph Stalin or a serial killer or a televangelist!
And that – is why He terminated the baby. Don’t you feel silly for being sad?! He took the baby, so it could be in heaven forever. Otherwise, her baby would have lived a life of slaughtering people here on earth, or preaching .
Pat concludes ” So it’s not a bad thing.” In other words, get on with yer life already and stop dissin’ God !
