President Obama like all elected politicians in America, is a promoter, advocate and believer in God. Very unlike the French who have a history of secularism, atheism, free thinkers, Deism, agnosticism and pillorying religion over the past 225 years. Boy those years right after the French Revolution were so anti-religious that much of it is even sillier than the religion they were mocking.
No, we Americans have a very different story. In fact Gallup recently found that the most distrusted group in America are atheists. Worse than Muslims! More than half of Americans said so. Most of whom love God, guns and eat grits with white gravy on their chicken fried steak. AND THEY DON’T LIKE BEYONCE!
So going to Paris to march with a bunch of European secularists defending Charlie Hebdo – whose main purpose is to mock religions of all all kinds – would not be good politics for Democrats. Democrats who are already suspect for not properly accepting religious dogma and intolerance as their birthright. And anyway, where was the Pope?
There are two firm rules in American politics. No person who is an atheist or against executions can be elected President of the United States. The two things are mutually exclusive you see. As Muslims prove to us every day. Hmmm. Numerous times a day… Um… Many many many times a day.
