It’s not all a bed of roses when you win an enormous amount of money. I recently glimpsed a ‘reality show’ one evening, based entirely upon the unhappiness that lottery winnings caused for various families. Somehow I don’t believe this program owes any success it might enjoy to empathy for our fellow man and woman, but to simple schadenfreude.
People tell you stories of misery in order to console you for spending the money for the electricity bill on Lottery tickets; while all along you both know they’re lying their tail-feathers off to make you feel better.
