Of course all Republican candidates in these Tea Party years must bring the issues down to the intellectual level of the Southern Republican Base. Though as a Southerner I must defend our culture by saying the rest of rural America is no smarter. My guess it is the smell of manure the morning.
There are conceptional hurdles here that such people are just unable to climb over.
With evolution it is LONG TIMES that they are not able to grasp.
With the environment they are unable to grasp how one failure in the ecosystem can affect the rest of it.
Their problem with accepting global warming is much the same in that they are unable to grasp the issue of how finely tuned the balance of CO2 is. And though man made CO2 is only a small part of the whole it is more than enough to swing the entire plant off balance.They just cannot grasp that.
Hell, these kind of people – along with Hobby Lobby and the Pope – cannot even grasp that global warming, pollution and so on are caused by over population.
If you listen to Fox News, talk radio or the NRA you can see how it all works, nothing is more popular than talking under the heads of the Republican base.
It is no longer a matter of left and right, but smart and dumb.
