Lawrence O’Donnell observes that the ‘real’ news sometimes eclipses any parody, and this is the week which proves the theory. Sam Bee from the Daily Show demonstrates how easily John "Captain Blubber Pants" Boehner manipulates others with his gushing tear ducts – second only to Glenn Beck, who doesn’t hold a public office AFAIK. Sam rightly observes that Sen. Glenn Grothman is the perfect Daily Show guest. He surely is, the writers could take the day off, Grothman speaking for Grothman is more surreal than anything they could make up.
You cannot make up a Sen. Glenn Grothman of Wisconsin, even in the off chance that you’d want to do so. Grothman is notable for his despicable remarks to protesting nurses, firemen, teachers, and others of the middle class who have been forced to stay in the capitol building or risk being locked out. For their sleep-in, chanting, and "pounding on drums" they are one and all – "slobs." Note: He doesn’t look too hot himself.
Grothman has refused each of O’Donnell’s offers to publicly apologize to a representative group of protesters for his name calling. Even face to face with the hard working protesters via video feed, Grothman addresses the comment by compounding the insult! He is the very picture of a smirking, disengaged, heartless Republican whom it appears believes he is witty. There could not be a better contrast to the hard-working protesters if it had been planned.
