Stephen Colbert, Ted Cruz, President of the uninformed

ted cruz for presidentAs any Texan, I am way ahead of the game on Ted Cruz. We down here in Dumbutt have had a couple extra years of getting to know Tailgunner Ted.

The story here is not so much of the Right-wing swill he dispenses or pointing his fingers at suspected NAZIs and Marxists or even fellow Republicans as he channels Joe McCarthy, no the story is the Tea Party Ugly who he is playing for.

We can see the rise and fall of the Tea Party Ugly in polls, but keep in mind this embodiment of Joe McCarthy not only won a statewide vote in Texas, but won it handily against a well known Republican with big Republican money connections. And don’t kid yourself that Texans did not know what they were getting with this creepy crawler.

The Tea Party Ugly. How many are there? Are the growing or shrinking? How much power to they hold in Republican primaries? How important are they outside the Old Confederacy and Idaho? Are any of them under 70 years old. And of course, just how white are they?

We will find those answers a year from this coming November.
